ABOUT

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe that the bible is the inspired word of God (II Timothy 3:16-17 II Peter 1:16-21) and is that it is good for doctrine and reproof according to the scripture. We believe in the inerrancy of the scriptures, meaning that it has no error or fault in its original teachings. We believe that God’s word is a mystery and that the Holy Spirit will reveal the word to believers that seek Him.

We believe in God the father. We believe that He is the true and living God. We believe that He is the one and only God and that He created all things for His pleasure. We believe that God is a spirit (St. John 4:24) and that He was also manifest in the flesh (I Timothy 3:16). We believe that He first did this through His son, Jesus (Matthew 1:23), and now He is manifested in our flesh through His Spirit. (Acts 2:17)

We believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that He is the Messiah (savior) and that He is the Son of God and the son of man (Matthew 27:54; I John 4:15; St Luke 9:22; 19:10). We believe that He was born of the Virgin Mary, and that He is the word of God made flesh (St John 1:1-3; 14). We believe that Jesus is the propitiation (appeasement) for our sins, (Colossians 1:20-23; I John 2:1-2) because He died on the cross for our atonement (reconciliation between God and man). We believe that His blood was shed for the remission of our sins, (Hebrews 9:22) and that His sacrifice appeased God’s requirement for a sacrificial lamb, (I Pet 1:18-19, Heb. 9:1-15) thus making Him the Lamb of God!  We believe that Jesus is the only way to the father (St John 14:6; I John 2:22-23) and that faith in who He is, and what He’s done, is essential for salvation (Rom. 10:9-10). We believe that Jesus rose from the dead (St Mark 16:1-6) and that He will return for His believers both dead and alive (Acts 1:11; I Thessalonians 4:13-17).

We believe in the Holy Spirit. We believe in His work and we believe that He regenerates our spirit (St. Luke 12:12; St. John 14:15-20; 26; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:11; 14; 26; I Corinthians 2:6-10; Ephesians 1:19-20 I John 2:27). We believe that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one (St John 10:30; 38; 14:16-26; 17:21; Ephesians 4:5-6; Colossians 1:15-20; 2:9).

We believe that God created man from the dust of the ground (Gen. 2:7) and that as a result of sin, the first man (Adam) broke fellowship with God (Isaiah 59:2). We believe that because of Adam’s sin, each of us was born in sin, (Psalms 51:5; Romans 5:12) and that we need to be born again (St. John 3:1-8)! We believe that faith in Christ’s work on the cross is the only thing that can redeem man from his sin, but that it is also essential for man to repent of his sins (to acknowledge your sin and need of a savior and commit to forfeiting your way and turning to God’s way) in order for salvation to truly take place (James 2:17-19).

We believe that water baptism is an outward expression of the inward change that takes place when Christ saves us and that it represents death to sin and resurrection to a newness of life (Romans 6:1-7; I Cor. 5:17; Colossians 2:11-15). We believe that water baptism should take place shortly after salvation.

We believe that the Holy Communion serves as a reminder for believers of all that Christ did for us on the cross (St. Luke 22:19). We believe that communion is one of the most sacred sacraments that a believer can partake in. We believe that a person should refrain from taking communion if that person has unconfessed sin or is in a backslidden condition (I Cor. 11:26-32).
